Intensive In Home

Intensive In Home (IIH) is a child and adolescent family service.

It is a specialized, home-based mental health  and substance use disorder service designed to support children, adolescents, and their families during times of crisis. This service aims to stabilize the family environment, prevent out-of-home placements, and improve overall family functioning.


Here are some key functional aspects of Intensive In-Home Services:

  • Crisis Management.  Immediate support to manage and diffuse crises.
  • Counseling. Individual and family therapy to address mental health issues.
  • Skills Training. Teaching coping mechanisms, parenting skills, and effective discipline techniques.
  • Case Management.  Coordinating with community resources and other services.
  •  24/7 Crisis Support.  Availability of crisis response at all times.

SHYAS has a unique intake process. You may call in a referral, fax in a referral, or submit a referral online.


It is our job to 

  • Identify the presenting problem
  • Ensure your safety
  • Gather your basic demographic information
  • Conduct a social determinants of health screening
  • Schedule an intake & assessment

IIH - Functional Family Therapeutic Services

Intake & Assessment

SHYAS strives to get your child and family in for an intake and assessment within 48 hours of the referral. 


During the intake and assessment the clinician will

  • Review all the consents for treatment .
  • Conduct  clinical interviews with the family, the parents, and the child.
  • Review the results of the assessment with family.
  • Facilitate the development of the person centered plan.


IIH - Functional Family Therapeutic Services

IIH - Functional Family Therapeutic Services

IIH Therapist provides each child and  

family 1-2 therapy sessions each week. 

   They are available 24/7/365 if additional sessions are needed. 

  • IIH Therapist provide Functional Family Therapy (FFT). FFT is an evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help at-risk youth and their families focus on improving family dynamics, communication, and problem-solving skills. FFT can be conducted in various settings including clinics, homes, schools, and offices of juvenile justice to prevent out of home placement.


IIH - CFTs

Crisis Management

A Child and Family Team (CFT) meeting is a collaborative gathering designed to goal plan, strategize interventions and meet children and families at their point of need. 

  • SHYAS facilitates Monthly CFT meetings 
  • CFTs aim to empower families by involving them in decision-making processes and ensuring they have the necessary support to thrive. 
  • These meeting include the child, family members, social workers, mental health professionals, substance use counselors, educators, and other community supports.

Effective crisis management aims to stabilize the child and family address's immediate safety concerns and a     develop a plan for ongoing support and treatment. 

  • Crisis management also involves strategies and interventions designed to help the child and family with open communication, problem solving, stress management, resilience building, and developing a natural support system.
